The Google Shopping Campaign Program is really nothing more than an ad format on Google Adwords. If you've used Google Adwords before, you already know that until Google Shopping came along, it only showed text ads along with organic search results.



The Google Shopping Campaign allows advertisers to buy ad space for their products and to have the product information appear directly in AdWords instead of having to convince the viewer to click on the ad to see more details about he product. As an advertiser, the Google Shopping interface will let you bulk edit your ads.

If you have done any shopping on the internet, then you have seen google's shopping results at the top of your screen when you search for a product. Google has the advantage of having access to every site on the internet, with this power Google is able to find you almost any product at the best price.

The Google Shopping Campaign Program also uses the pay-per-click format of Google Adwords, which means you only pay when someone clicks on your product listing. This keeps advertising costs down while making your profits soar. Another great feature about this advertising format is that advertisements are automatically optimized for mobile computing devices like tablets and smart phones. This is very important considering that more and more people are shopping using their mobile devices.

The Google Shopping Campaign Program was launched in October 2013. The jury is still out on whether they work or not because it's relatively new. But if you sell physical products, you should try it. Make sure to read the instructions carefully though. Otherwise, you might end up with unwanted surprises.
